"Fishadelphia" Custom Life Story PaintingOriginal Acrylic On Canvas48" x 96" x 1.5" by Julie Borden
"Fishadelphia" This painting features a couple's journey through life, and pays tribute to their home in Philadelphia, while also incorporating their interest with a marine and aquatic theme. The City is Philadelphia, but underwater, becoming "Fishadelphia". The client also wanted a family Christmas scene. This was combined with the idea of the sandy bottom of the ocean. The Christmas scene was now able to work "year round" within the decor of the house, and blended nicely with the undersea theme. The sand provided a whimsical way to portray the landscape, while being able to add and capture all of the details. Both clients were in the Army and paratroopers, so fish were added doing this. Both clients liked Absolute Vodka, so a rendition of a bottle was added, along with "martini fish" that swim throughout the entire painting. The mermaids holding the baby represent the couple and their new baby. Various buildings that were memorable and significant to them were added, along with certain family and friends that are fish. They had just purchased a tandem bicycle, so the two fish are riding through the ocean floor. The red car is the owners favorite and was added by request, along with a temple and star symbol. The Ben Franklin Bridge was added into the background, complete with miniature fish cars going over it, as a tribute to a running path used daily. The whimsical colors and personal imagery created from their "life story" is what is portrayed in this very remarkable story of two people that became 3 people.
