The "T& M" Family Custom Life Story Painting Original Acrylic On Canvas40" x 60" x 1.5by Julie Borden
This Life Story painting was a commissioned by a couple who had recently celebrated their commitment ceremony and many milestones in life. this was a very complex and personal story that was shared with me to create this special piece. The book in the middle pays tribute to many things. St. Francis, the Patron Saint of Animals is featured in the middle, along with the couples cats and dogs. The triangle symbol and the book, represents the Big Book (AA) for achievement in personal struggles they have overcome. The words Service, Recovery and Unity represent this as well. Angels were very symbolic in the piece and to the client. Memories of walking through the woods with her mother, was captured in the forest scene.
"M", a part time teacher of music and cardio nurse, I chose the guitar, violin and piano to represent music and made the heart with the nurses hat on to represent this. Known for her "megaphone" at meetings, we had fun with this idea, and you'll see her inside the guitar. "T" has worked for years with children and caring for them, and all of the kids over the years became her children. With fond memories of her hippie days, this flower child is standing among her "children" whom are represented by the flowers, all with tiny faces of joy. Their paths are filled with rainbows, like the flags they display. The luck of the Irish, a symbol in the home was added outside the rendering of their apartment building, next to the pool. The pool is where this couple met and enjoys games of Scrabble, and the tiles in the sand spell out the word Commitment, next to their rings.
Trips to San Fransisco, inner tubing with friends on a honeymoon, and favorite places such as Rehoboth Beach, Delaware in the background created a whimsical landscape. Small kayaks and camping gear while on hikes to NJ follow the shore line at the beach.Private jokes like water bottles and subtle icons make this a truly personal creation for these two wonderful people. Names woven into guitar strings and words such as love dot the landscape in playful areas. The dates represent milestones, birthdays, anniversaries and special moments to remember. A truly extraordinary Life Story for two extraordinary women.
